Project Description:  Provided hydraulic analyses, floodplain mapping and levee improvement pre-design for the western portion of Colusa along the Colusa Basin Main Drain channel.  Improvements included levee construction, channel widening at Highway 20, and energy dissipation of channel flow into a sensitive wildlife refuge.  Portions of the levee are complete and when the remaining improvements are made a LOMR will be issued to FEMA.

                                                                                                                  Colusa Drain at Hwy 20
Utilized HEC-2 and HEC-RAS to develop a working model of the floodplain west of the city of

Colusa. Water elevations and velocities of the existing and proposed conditions were evaluated for project completeness. The Colusa basin drain being the main factor, stage data was collected from two river stations and utilized in the flood frequency analysis.
